How to do the dishes smart & easy way?

Doing the dishes is among the most tiring tasks but there’s simply no escaping it. Being ignorant would only stockpile lots of dishes in the sink while it can get overwhelming if one doesn’t own a dishwasher. In-case you’re washing dishes the traditional way, check out a few handy tips to make is less oppressive.

1. Wear gloves
Safety comes first with everything so before you dunk your hands in that soapy solution and hot water, wear safety latex gloves. Not only they protect your skin from concentrated chemicals and pruning but look cool when worn! These gloves are rubber-made allowing you to handle wet and slippery dishes. If you don’t like the rubbery smell they give, prewash with baking soda and hot water to deodorise.

2. Clean the leftover immediately
Food debris when left untouched for hours hardens and is far tough to clean! This is due to the sticky moisture that oozes from the leftovers, releasing peculiar smell as well. Lest you’re dealing with the mess, dunk the cutlery in boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes before scrubbing and it’ll surely help.

3. Hot water is the best antidote
Hot water don’t only clean well but also an excellent disinfectant. It condenses food debris and grease stains so you can wash them away easily with a single wipe of dish soap. Moreover, it cleans glass and other delicate kitchenware leaving no spots or streaks.

4. Soak them up
For stubborn food deposits or simply to deep clean pots and pans, add a few drops of liquid soap and soak in hot water for a few hours. Similarly, with over-baked food and burnt remains, sprinkle baking soda and white vinegar along with powdered detergent and leave it overnight. Wash with hot water the next day while scrubbing mildly.

5. Work with a good sponge & effective dish washing tools
A huge variety of branded sponges are available at local stores only for a few bucks. When buying, pick a non-abrasive one to prevent dishes from scrapes. Dish wand is quite a handy tool that allows you to add liquid solution directly inside the handle and work your way around for perfect results. Scrub brush is also great that helps remove bacteria and even the toughest smudge.

6. Don’t pile the dishes for last minute
Sometimes, we’re all too tired or simply being lazy bones when dish washing is concerned. That’s okay as long as you’re not doing it frequently because piling up the dishes for other day means you’re taking an awful risk! What if another urgent task presents itself or some of your friends/family members decided to drop by; so don’t let your kitchen sink turn into a dish monster!

7. Follow the order
This may sound unfamiliar or even bizarre to a few but there’re certain rules when cleaning the cutlery. If you haven’t been following the order, check this out;
  • Start with glassware and other drinking vessels
  • Move on to the plates, bowls and other dishes
  • Then comes the greasy stuff like serving pots and pans
  • If the sink is getting grimy or extra greasy, drain the water and refill as needed.
8. Prefer air-drying technique
Finally when you’re done with the main task that is washing, organise the crockery neatly on a dish rack allowing them to air-fry. This is a much preferred way however if you’re in serious need of extra dishes with all those guests waiting; wipe the cutlery with fresh, dry and non-abrasive cloth for immediate use.
